Translating
A translator applies the same skills as an interpreter but to the written word.
The ability to bridge the communication gap and provide a link between cultures begins with a respect for and acceptance of diversity of culture. Through this we are able to assess the need for and subsequently demonstrate to both interpreters, translators and professionals alike, the skills and knowledge necessary to improve and develop their ability to work together and thereby satisfy the obligations of their mutual clients.
Translators transfer written (or electronically recorded) text from one language into another. As there is no direct input from the author of the text, translators gain understanding by analysing the intent of a written message before transferring its meaning into another language.
BOWDEN McCORMACK acknowledges that Dominic McCormack has not received accreditation with respect to the art of translation. However, he is nevertheless engaged at times to conduct translation work on behalf of clients.
It is considered that the best manner in which to proceed when conducting translation work is to do so as a team - that is, in the company of a person whose first language is Murrinh-patha, in order that concepts may be discussed with them until it is clear what English message (or vice versa) is intended to be conveyed.
BOWDEN McCORMACK has the capability to conduct translation in this manner and keeps its clients informed as to progress and any difficulties being encountered.
